The
Egyptians thought this was a sacred flower and dedicated it
to the Sun God. It was used in ritual ceremonies and medicinally
to stop fits and fevers. |
| Description |

Chamomile
species grow throughout Europe, North Africa and are often
found growing wild, but only two species,
Anthemis nobilis ( Roman chamomile ) and Matricaria chamomilla
( German chamomile ) have been known well. They have
fine, feathery leaves with tiny white or yellow-centered daisy-like
flowers. The pale blue oil is extracted from the flower and
has a slightly apple fragrance which blends well rose, geranium
and lavender. |
| Therapeutic
effects |
|
Particularly noted for its anti-inflammatory and sedative
properties, it is excellent for childhood ailments ( whether
in children or adults! ) from peevishness to earache. Also
used for allergies, anemia, menstrual and menopausal problems,
rheumatism, toothache and ulcers. |
| Uses |
|
Certain chamomile species are used for herbal infusions, but
the oil is used in body, bath and hair products for its antiallergenic
properties. Use in dilute form for children. |

Blends well with bergamot , cedarwood , geranium , jasmine
, lavender , lemon , marjoram , neroli , rose , sage , sandalwood
, tea tree , ylang ylang , peppermint . |

note |

- Pregnant woman should be avoided during first three mounts.
- Do not allow chamomile oil to get into the eyes.
